The state Lottery Commission of West Virginia recently announced the go ahead for The Greenbrier casino to open to the public. The casino hosted a special test run this past Wednesday night and on Thursday the small scale casino was allowed to open. During the three hour test run on Wednesday The Greenbrier had limits of $5 betting and offered blackjack, roulette and three card poker. Video slot machines will be added to the gaming floor later in October. Players can visit the casino to play blackjack and the other table games Monday through Saturday from eleven am to three am and two pm to three am on Sunday.
Voters of Greenbrier approved the resort for gambling back in November and officials of the resort have stated that ‘tasteful gaming’ will help restore their profitability. Visitors of the casino are limited to those staying at The Greenbrier Sporting Club home development or members. However a full scale casino is being built near the hotel’s main entrance. The full scale casino will be underground and will cost about $25 million.
