Back in June, former police officer Jesus Salazar, was found cheating at the Sycuan Casino. Salazar was playing blackjack and he was found to be trying to add more chips to his original bet to earn a larger payout. The Sycuan Gaming Commission has now released the footage which shows Salazar cheating at the casino game. Steve Van Slyke the director of surveillance for the gaming commission commented that they have good evidence showing Salazar cheating at the blackjack tables and that the camera tells no lies. The footage is from June 2nd and covers four hands of blackjack that Salazar played.
Slyke commented on what the video shows by stating: “In each of the hands, he looks at his hand, likes his and caps his bet. He tries to add more chips to his original hand. As he’s adding a $25 bet, as the dealer is looking at his hand and the dealer pushes back the bet.”
Salazar stated he was trying to add to his bet since he was going to split the cards. This is a legal move but security had already been called to review the video footage. After security was called, Salazar was arrested. It was around mid-June when Salazar decided to resign from the police force.
Salazar pled guilty to bet capping which has a misdemeanor charge. He was sentenced to three years of probation and has been told to stay away from the casino. Slyke commented that all cheaters should take this incident into consideration if they were thinking of cheating the casino. Slyke stated: “I wouldn’t try it at Sycuan because you will get caught.”
