Sometimes criminals are very smart, but most times they are just plain stupid. Many times, a criminal will act on impulse and this will get them in trouble. A fifty one year old man acted impulsively at a Pennsylvania casino recently and he ended up going to jail for his actions. Dana Lee of New Jersey was visiting the Sands Casino Resort in Bethlehem when he decided to steal chips from the blackjack table. Lee was sitting quietly at the blackjack table in the early morning hours one day last week when the decided to clean up and steal about $3,000 casino chips from the table.
Not really thinking his plan through, Lee was caught quickly. Lee had waited until the dealer started to re-shuffle the deck and then he reached across and grabbed six $500 chips from the blackjack table. The incident was immediately reported and the casino security was able to apprehend Lee.
Lee was seen by the dealer taking the chips as well as other witnesses. Everyone reported the theft of the blackjack chips and gaming enforcement officers took Lee into custody. Lee has now been charged with theft as well as receiving stolen property and attempted theft. He has since been released on $10,000 and will await trial.
This is just one instance of how rash judgment can get you into trouble. Lee was probably sitting quietly playing the game of blackjack when he started thinking about taking the chips. It is really not a smart idea to steal chips right from the blackjack table in front of everyone but apparently Lee thought it was a good idea!
