Gambling odds are a major part of a gambling game. Everyone knows that when they go to a casino and play a game there are certain odds set for a payout. Most times the odds are fair and keep players happy. However sometimes casinos or governments decide to change these odds and players become unhappy. This is exactly what is happening in Pennsylvania. Casinos in the state are trying to talk the government into changing the odds for a natural blackjack. Currently the payout for an Ace ten combo is 3 to 2 which means a player would win $15 for a $10 bet. However casinos want to change the payout to 6 to 5 which would mean players would earn only $12 for a $10 bet.
This proposed change has many in the gambling community in uproar but it is not the only change that could be in the works. The state is also thinking of changing the soft 17 rule. A soft 17 is an Ace-Six combination and the rule currently is that a dealer must stand if this is their cards. The change would allow dealers to hit. If this happens then it is more possible for the dealer to hit twenty one which decreases the player’s odds of winning.
Over the next few months the Gaming Control Board in the state will be reviewing these changes that have been proposed. If the board agrees then the new rules could be put into place within 2012. A campaign has now been mounted by professional players as well as amateurs. A writing campaign has been launched to send letters to the Control Board on their displeasure of the changes proposed. If enough opposition is seen on the proposed changes, then the board may consider to do away with the changes.
