The Mohegan Sun at the Pocono Downs was fined a very large amount of money after three players were caught gambling on the casino floor, all of which were underage. The state Gambling Control Board recently approved a fine for two separate incidents involving the game of blackjack. The casino has to pay $80,000 for charges of underage gambling as the youngsters were able to stay on the gambling floor for hours and play the game of blackjack. In the state, players under the age of twenty one are not allowed on the casino floor much less wager on games.
The case which concerned board members the most involved a twenty year old male. The twenty year old was with his mother and father on the gaming floor last January and he was able to play blackjack and slots for over three hours and was served beer before he was found to be underage.
The other case took place this past October with another twenty year old male and nineteen year old male. The two were able to play blackjack for almost two hours on October 28th before they were caught.
The state police investigated both cases and found the casino guilty of underage gambling. The Mohegan Sun now has to pay the fine as well as set a new policy which requires all table games player who look under the age of thirty to show identification.
