Every casino across the United States has an age limit for entry. Anyone under the required age limit which is twenty one most times, are breaking the law. If a casino in the US allows a person under the required age limit to gamble then that casino can face stiff fines from state regulators. This is exactly what happened to the Harrah’s Chester Downs this past week. Harrah’s Chester Downs and Marina LLC are located in Pennsylvania and they were fined this week for allowing an underage male to gamble at their casino. The casino now has to pay $26,000 for an instance that took place back in November 2010.
The male underage gambler was nineteen years old and was able to play blackjack at Harrah’s Chester Downs for around an hour and a half before it was discovered he was underage. The man approached customer service and tried to get a players card and the employees figured out he was not twenty one.
This is not the first time the casino was fined for underage gambling. The casino, which opened in 2007, was fined one month before the above instance took place, October 2010. In October the casino was fined $70,000 for seven different instances of underage gamblers who used the casino’s slot machines.
So in the past few months the casino has paid out almost $100,000 in fines just for underage gambling. Hopefully they have put new security measures in place where they will not have to shell out so much cash again in the future.
