The Seminole Tribe is having a hard time with the government of Florida. House leaders of the state want to shut down the casinos run by the Seminole Tribe as they believe the Tribe is operating their casinos illegally. One of the casinos in question is the Hard Rock Casino in Tampa. Bill Galvano the House Gambling Negotiator commented that the tribe has not finalized an agreement to operate their blackjack tables. Galvano says the Tribe must do this and until they do the casino doors must close.
House leaders have now stated that if the Tribe does not shut down the casinos then they will use federal forces to shut the casinos for them. The Seminole Indian Tribe released a statement on Wednesday in response. One part reads:
"Since the federal approval of the tribe's 2007 compact has not been reversed by any judicial or administrative decision, the compact remains in effect as a matter of federal law."
It will be interesting to see what actions will be taken in the coming days. Will the House use force to close the casinos? Only time will tell but we will definitely be watching to see how this situation develops.
