Casinos all across the United States are beginning to add new casino games such as blackjack and craps to their casino floors. As so many casinos make this change there is one casino that is going the opposite way. The Golden Moon Casino in Philadelphia which is owned by the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians has decided to move some of their blackjack tables out of their casino to add an entertainment venue. The Golden Moon Casino will now have a theater that will be used for musical acts as well as entertainment acts. A few blackjack tables as well as slot machines will be moved out to make way for the new offering.
Warren Strain is a spokesman for the tribe and he stated the tribe has been working to find a way to upgrade their venue for performers to come in and have room to perform. Once the work has been finished the casino should be able to accommodate about 4,500 to 5,000. Strain commented:
“We’re looking at 4,500 to 5,000 seat capacity at the Golden Moon. And the room is so large and the ceiling so high, we would expect to draw all different types of acts—bigger names and better acts, and more options to the area.”
The casino plans on leaving a few blackjack and other table games as well as slot machines on the gaming floor but most of the 80,000 square foot area will be dedicated to the entertainment center. Strain went on to say that the casino is expecting the new entertainment center will make the casino the largest gaming-associated events center in Mississippi if not the Southeast.
