Ryan Reedy is a local businessman in Kalamazoo and he is planning to offer residents casino entertainment. The city has not gambling options and residents of the state are going to surrounding areas to enjoy gambling games. Reedy wants to bring gambling games to downtown Kalamazoo and will do so in the form of charity gambling. Beginning in late January, Reedy will begin working on charitable gaming spots. Reedy commented: “WE are planning to open our first concept on January 25th—Black Jacks Casino Bar—at the Wild Bull Saloon (& Steak Pit).”
The gaming facility will offer four low limit blackjack tables to begin with. Reedy is also planning on offering other gaming concepts from roulette options to craps and medium limit blackjack tables. More gaming facilities will be put in place at a later date especially if the first facility does well.
The offerings will be run according to charitable gaming rules which are as follows. The gaming revenues will be split down the middle between nonprofit organizations that have obtained Millionaire Party License from the Michigan Lottery and the facility.
Reedy commented on the licensing by stating: It allows you to provide qualified nonprofits with a charitable gaming event. They are in charge of the event. You are simply providing the location, the equipment, the staff and the marketing so they can accomplish the fundraising activity.”
