Last week we brought you the story of Michael Geismar, an investment manager who had a nice run in Las Vegas at the blackjack tables. The gambler was able to win $710,000 and now he has announced he plans on donating the funds to charity.Geismar won the massive amount in two nights by playing at the Bellagio casino. The gambler took a break from the SkyBridge Alternatives Conference to hit the blackjack tables and was able to walk away a big winner. The gambler has now stated he will donate the funds he earned to this charitable foundation.
Geismar started the PB & J Fund which is a charity organization founded by the investment manager and his wife. The foundation provides healthy food to people who are lacking food in the Charlottesville, Virginia area.
Geisman spoke to The Wall Street Journal and stated: “There’s a lot more poverty than you would think (in Virginia).” The couple wants to ensure that children and families do not go without eating. The couple is also considering opening a café with the charity to help teach children how to cook. Geismer stated that if the charity finds they are running out of cash he will hit the blackjack tables yet again!
This is an amazing donation and will benefit the charity greatly. This instance just goes to show how gamblers can be very charitable especially considering the large amount of cash they earn. Many gamblers choose to donate a percentage of their earnings to charity to help causes they are passionate about. From poker pros to professional gamblers, the best choose to give to those who are in need.
