The Tropicana Casino and Resort in Atlantic City had mentioned a few weeks ago they were planning on adding gaming machines to The Quarter a shopping center located at the casino. The plan has now been put in place and gaming machines were added last week for a testing phase. The games include blackjack options and throughout the week, gamblers have been able to test out the games. Slot games have also been added as well. At first, those who walked by said the games had no place in the shopping area.
The blackjack machines, which offer $5 and $10 wagering options, are located in front of the fountain as well as the Cuba Libre and Red Square. Penny slots have also been added on the wall and near the staircase of the Quarter.
Tony Rodio the CEO and president of Tropicana commented: “it will be the only place this side of Nevada, literally, where you can eat, dine, shop and gamble. We did it in The Quarter because we get large crowds of people coming through here, and to not take advantage of that from a gaming standpoint was a missed opportunity. (The fountain) is the main gathering place of The Quarter, right outside of the restaurants, and we think it’s the best place to kick it off.”
If the test run is successful then the gaming options could be expanded to the square which is located near the Starbucks. There are also other spots being looked into, it will all be determined by if the testing phase does well.
