For fifteen years now the Aztar Casino in Indiana has hosted a blackjack charity and slot tournament event. The casino has raised money for the same charity year after year and this year the casino donated the proceeds from the event to the Salvation Army and the Santa Clothes Club. The event is in its fifteenth year and took place from the 1st to the 5th of December. Players could participate in a daily tournament for a fee of $10 and players could also bring a $10 toy to have the entry fee waived. This was a perfect way for the casino to raise toys for children this Christmas. All of the toys as well as the entry fees to the blackjack and slots tournaments were given to the Evansville Salvation Army Toy Town and the Santa Clothes Club.
The casino has provided the towns people with toys, food and clothes for over a decade and many people have been very appreciative of the casino. The entry fees to the tournaments as well as the toys donated have helped local families have a happy holiday that they otherwise would not have.
In 2009 the casino was able to give away over 1,200 toys to the Salvation Army. For every $100 the casino raises the charity is able to give shoes, winter clothes and a coat to one child. The Salvation Army gathers the names of those in need from government records and schools in the area and then they benefit from the money raised.
Every day of the blackjack tournament the top ten players will split the prize pool. The same goes for the slot players. First place earns $500 while second earns $100. Third through tenth place will take home $50 each.
